Rev. Msgr. Walter Niebrzydowski

Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Msgr. Walter attended Cardinal Hayes H.S., Cathedral College, and St. Joseph’s Seminary before being ordained at the North American College, Rome, for the class of 1959.

His first assignment was to serve at St. Stanislaus Parish in Manhattan. From 1961 to 1984 he was a teacher and administrator at Cathedral Preparatory Seminary. During that period he earned an M.A. in the Greek and Roman classics at Columbia University. In 1982 he became chaplain o f the Polish-language Catholic Discussion Club.

In 1984 he was assigned as Pastor of St. John the Martyr Parish, New York City, and was appointed member of the Archdiocesan Priests’ Council. From 1996 to 2008 he was Pastor at Epiphany Parish in New York City. He retired with residence at the neighboring Parish of St. Stephen to dedicate himself full-time to the media ministry.

From 1974 to 1982 he wrote, produced, and narrated Rock Pulpit, a weekly radio show of music and message on WPIX-FM. With Fr. Joseph Baker, he Co-founded N.B. Productions to produce show for cable TV, which now appear on Channel 57 on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM. His website is and his YouTube channel is Frwalter1. Moving to St. Columba’s, he plans to take advantage of the hospitality and staff to intensify his efforts in promoting the good news of the Gospel through the electronic and digital media.Since 1845 the parish of St. Columba has served the needs of Westsiders spanning several generations and including countless ethnic groups.
